The balls are made of different materials, "that not only look different, but whose ballistic characteristics will affect the very rolling behaviour of each one of them." Adding the six tables spanning various monstrous or funny themes, this game is sure to keep you stuck to your Mac's screen for hours.Ī complete list of features for Dream Pinball 3D is available below. Therefore, players have six different style balls to choose from. Runesoft decided not to "skimp on the technology" when introducing Dream Pinball 3D to the Mac.

"This was the thinking behind the development of the newest pinball sensation - Dream Pinball 3D - with its six cutting edge tables that are beckoning you to try your luck." "A great pinball game should not only be amazing from the start, but should continue to be entertaining every time you play it," says Runesoft.

Adding realistic tilt function and motion blur effects, Dream Pinball 3D requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or higher and costs around US$44, according to InsideMacGames. You can also dynamically set your backglass monitor to show a static translite on launch or just have your front end do it.Runesoft is now shipping the Mac version of Dream Pinball 3D, featuring acoustics, state of the art particle technology, HDRI and multilayer 3D sound, as the makers say. Now, if you're running a front end like hyperpin or pinballx (I'm not), you can integrate this pretty well using something like the free tool, irotate.exe. Select new game, (I suggest setting difficulty to hard at least otherwise its 5 ball), pick your table and go. Set multiball and regular camera to #7, stationary.Ħ) Set your controls, this is pretty easy as the game supports mapping keyboard presses easily.Ĩ) Rotate your monitor to 1080x1920 portrait, and run the game again. If you cannot achieve step #2 above, you'll have to use 1280x1024 here, but the game will not be quite as nice looking.ĥ) Next, go to display settings and turn off the reflections. For nvidia, I was able to do this in nvidia control panel, add custom resolution.ģ) Rotate your monitor to 1920x1080 landscape and run the game.Ĥ) In the game settings, select resolution, change to 1600x1200.

So here is what I found to be the most painless way to integrate this game in a cabinet that has a 1080p playfield (most of them):Ģ) Poke around your video card settings to add 1600x1200 resolution. In fact, I couldn't get the game to load or run at all until I installed the steam version.

There are threads discussing how to patch the executable to add some resolutions to the game, but none of that worked for me. The game really doesn't support portrait well and it does not support modern resolutions. There was a lot of discussion between Sir Cheddar, gigalula and I, about how to get this working. In any event, it's very cheap for the 6 tables it comes with and is a nice addition to any cabinet. It's a lot like pinball arcade in this regard. The ball is very floaty (feels like around 5 pitch), but the flipper shots are not too bad and the physics are not too bad other than table pitch. The DMD will be stuck on the bottom left of your cabinet. The game will work in portrait mode and fill most the screen.

So after a nice chat with Sir Cheddar and gigalula, I managed to get Dream Pinball 3d working pretty well in my cabinet.
